When building out my Honda Element Camper Van, I wanted a no – build solution that could be easily removed from the vehicle. Many builds feature an extensive wooden bed, oftentimes with slats that pull out to make a double bed. I don’t really need a double bed since my dear husband is not a fan of camping at all, so I usually go with friends or other family members.
The Coleman ComfortSmart Cot – the perfect camper van solution.
I ended up buying the Coleman ComfortSmart Cot for the back of my Honda Element. I bought the 69′ version since I am only 5’6″. This cot would also work great for camping in a mini van or any other van setup. I have also used it in a tent. The complete dimensions are 69″x25″x15. I like the size because there is plenty of room for storage below the cot.
Is the Coleman ComfortSmart Cot Comfortable?
It’s comfortable, enough. I prefer a firm mattress, so it works great for me. If you like a softer bed, you may want to check into a foam mattress pad. The cot folds up easily. To store, remove the mattress, flip the cot over, and put the mattress on the “bottom” so it stores on the inside when folded up.
Does the Coleman ComfortSmart Cot come in larger sizes?
The Coleman Comfort Smart Deluxe Cot is 80″x31″. If you are over 5’6 or 5″7 you will need the larger size. The larger size cot may still fit in the Honda Element, you would need to move the seat up all the way to the front. Measure the space before you purchase. The mattress can slide around a bit so I put some non slip shelf liner between the cot and mattress.
